hAIzy

hAIzy explores gender bias in AI within the context of contemporary Australian art, highlighting the ongoing inequalities in both fields and the binary limitations of available data. Blending technology, art, and critical inquiry, the project invites viewers to reflect on how AI-generated representations often mirror outdated gender imbalances—comparable to museum statistics from nearly a decade ago. Through an interactive guessing game, participants navigate AI-generated and real artist images, attempting to identify the true creators behind the biographies. This experience prompts reflection on the influence of bias in both AI systems and the art industry, encouraging dialogue around representation, inclusivity, and the responsibility we hold in shaping more equitable futures.
